Watch and Learn
The world is constantly evolving and with history being made daily, television is more than just another form of media – it is a window to the world. As part of our commitment to helping educate young New Zealanders, SKY is very pleased to announce the arrival of SKY in Schools – a package we’ve tailored to help teachers and students keep pace with world events, history, culture, sports and more.
How it works... in three simple steps
- Plan: Use this website to access programming information from our channels' websites. Here you will find details of feature documentaries including air times and dates to plan your viewing.
- View: Pick what documentaries may aid your lessons and arrange to view these with the class or record them for later lessons.
- Support: If required, most channels have worksheets available to download to support their documentaries. These will aid teachers with their lessons or give students ideas for projects... go to the Teachers Materials page on this site for more.
The SKY in Schools package includes this all these channels:
Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, Animal Planet, The History Channel, The Arts Channel, The Living Channel, SKY News Australia New Zealand, BBC World, CNN, ESPN, National Radio, Concert FM and SKY Sport 1 plus TV One, TV2 , TV3, C4, Prime, Southland TV 90 and Maori TV.
As you can see, such a broad selection of channels covering everything from culture, wildlife, current events, music, politics, history and sport will be relevant to a huge range of subjects at your school.
